EUSuccess Project

EUSuccess project is focused on the assessment of the practical functioning of the Succession Regulation in the first 10 years of its application and the future challenges it might face as a result of the impact of the Digital Justice Regulation.

EUSuccess is based in 7 selected Member States: Poland, Italy, Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Finland and Greece.

It is built around four blocks:

  1. Research and Analysis,
  2. Exchange of Experiences,
  3. Conclusions and Recommendations, as well as 
  4. continuous Dissemination and Communication.

The research into domestic perspective on the application of the Succession Regulation focused in particular on the case-law of domestic courts and other authorities will be presented in 7 National Reports. Additionally, summaries of value-added domestic decisions on Succession Regulation will be put into a searchable database. The second component will consist of exchange of knowledge, best practices and experiences with practical application of the Succession Regulation among legal professionals. 7 National Seminars with legal professionals engaged in succession cases will be organized.

Results of the research and experience exchange will be presented in Conclusions and Recommendations identifying strengths and weaknesses of the Succession Regulation, best practices and – if necessary – proposals for amendments and a Final Conference. The presentations of the Final Conference will be made available to wider audience in the form of recordings and as articles included in an edited volume published in open access. During the lifetime of the EUSuccess the awareness raising, communication and dissemination activities will be implemented.

Target groups will include legal professionals engaged in succession cases of EU and non-EU citizens dealt with in the EU: judges, notaries, attorneys at law, tax advisors, land registrars and civil status registrars.
